Yoko Kurama was born as a deaf fox yokai. He spent his life reading lips to understand what people were saying. Due to being deaf, he could hardly talk, but all of his other senses were increased. After 985 years, he got caught and merged himself into a baby named Shuichi Minamino, now calling himself "Kurama." Soon, he meets a fellow student in his high school named Yusuke Urameshi, who happens to be a Mazoku who doesn't know his own heritage yet.

Even sly foxes can feel love... Yes, even towards humans, if they're powerful enough, to be handled.

Kurama's unsure how to express his feelings through words, so he writes poetry instead. As Hiei reads the poems, he responds back with little notes.

The memories they made will forever be stored inside of Yoko's heart.
