"Anna loved to fly. Only she'd never have guessed how literally she would one day be able to do just that." Anna, Trish and Jack are three science students researching magic. Or that is what the university calls it. For them, it is about "communication between organic life forms and inorganic matter", but for the outside world, it is ridiculed as "how do plants, animals and rocks talk to each other?" Their passion for science and determination to finish the research they had started, brings them to the Kutabuta Jungle. But not even their years of research could have prepared them for the dangers they would encounter, for it seems the jungle doesn't want them anywhere near the truth ... "You're atheist," I remind him. "You don't believe in god." "I believe in you," He murmurs, letting the cigarette hang from his lips. "I believe in whatever you believe." He says, letting the confession roll off his tongue as if it were that simple. As if god, the devil, heaven, hell-as if none of it really had meaning to him. "That's not how it works," I mutter as we walk down a few more alleyways-the city of Manhattan coated in a light blanket of snow. Henry Vitiello had never had anything to pray for, that is, until he met me-the only thing that had ever opened his mind up to the possibility of religion "Isn't it?" He argues, taking the cigarette by his middle and pointer finger before blowing the smoke out. "I'II dip my hands in holy water if it means I could touch you." "You'd probably burn." 𓆩♡𓆪 𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐘 𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎, the reaper. He's a prick. An asshole. A pretentious son of a bitch. He's not perfect. He's not even decent. But he's hers. What's worse than a past that comes back to haunt you? One you don't even know. When Edin awoke in a stranger's bedroom, having forgotten everything but his name and age, he did not expect to be thrown into an ongoing war. As a gifted - a rare group of humans born with special abilities - Edin is forced to become a guardian and protect the realm of Idelhen from monsters, lest mankind fall prey to darkness. Arden Mægenstern, Idelhen's strongest guardian and the last stand against a sorcerer more powerful than most gifteds combined, takes Edin under her wing and works with him to restore his memories. A fateful encounter with a beast deems Edin worthy of becoming a guardian, and his sheer power promises an end to the sorcerer's reign of terror. However, just as he's thrust onto the battlefield, he realizes that there are other monsters than the feral creatures he's forced to slay. And they're waging a war within him. As Edin's inner demons and obscure past creep out of the shadows, the world wonders whether he really is Idelhen's next hope or its demise in disguise. Only blood will tell.
