"𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨 - today, August 25th, 1997, another missing persons was reported in the town of Lost Lamb, North Carolina. The victim is 16-year-old Sabrina Sullivan, who was visiting Persimmon National Park with family at the time of her disappearance. Despite being in close-proximity to her parents when she went missing, there were no witnesses at the scene. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest foul play. Her mysterious vanishment has re-sparked concerns over what locals of Lost Lamb have deemed "Forest 411", or Persimmon (National) Park. This nickname is survived by the twenty-five other unsolved missing persons cases that have been traced back to the area. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐧, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲." That was twenty years ago, and thirteen other people have gone missing in Persimmon National Park since. Men, women, children, and the elderly have vanished under strange circumstances in Lost Lamb, without a thread of similarity to tie them together. In regard to those who have disappeared, all the cases share only two aspects: every person vanished in the woods, and all their cases remain unsolved. Detective Redmond 'Red' Sullivan has returned to the small Carolina town after a twenty year absence, desperate for answers. He isn't leaving until he finds out what happened to his cousin on that idyllic summer's day, two decades ago. The trouble is, the thing that lurks inside Forest 411 has been waiting for Red for twenty years.

Hi guys sorry im only 13 so the writing is developing still... let me know if you enjoy this plot so far, if you like it, comment so I know you are engaged! i need constructive criticism desperately. BEFORE YOU READ ~ 1, AI free (except for grammatical overviews and the too-frequent asking of "can I put a semicolon here?" to which, the answer is always no.) 2, triggers may include not too explicit gore and swears. 3, this is like a book. 3, there may be minor inconsistencies.

Set in a dark, heightened world against the backdrop of late 90s counterculture, Saltwater & Smoke follows two misfits: a disillusioned nineteen-year-old half-human, half-merman named Kaz Benowitz and a young ex-model turned cynical monster hunter named Allie Devereux. Kaz spends his days becoming the headline attraction of a crumbling Coney Island sideshow. By day, Kaz performs tricks in his water tank and sings onstage. By night, he dreams of strangling his crooked circus employer in his sleep. Meanwhile, Allie Devereux is tasked to infiltrate Coney Island and assassinate a local mermaid trafficker. With a careful disguise and likable persona, Allie slips easily into the chaos of the boardwalk - and catches Kaz watching her from a distance. At first, Kaz is captivated by her mysterious charm. He thinks Allie might be the answer to the aching loneliness gnawing at him. But as their paths intertwine, the half-merman slowly realizes Allie may be far more dangerous than anyone he's ever met. Yet, Allie is the first person to lift Kaz from his agony. Her independence and ruthless demeanor inspire Kaz to leave the depraved circus, and he is willing to try, even if it means committing murder. What begins as fascination spirals into chaos, haunted by strange magic and darker intentions. Saltwater & Smoke is a haunting tale of two broken people colliding at the edge of the real and the unreal - a story about horror, heartbreak, and the lies we tell ourselves to survive. It's not a murder mystery - it's a fucked-up love story.
