**REVISING** The gods have no pity for humans and their impermanence. Why would they care for lives measured in years, when time marches into millennia for them? The immortals stay in their city. The humans remain in their parts of the world. That is until a human terrorist group gains control over the Goddess of Death, forcing her to kill their enemies and increase their power. All immortals keep their backs turned on humanity. Except Samil, the God of Festivals and the Arts. Samil knows he isn't very powerful among his kind. Or important. Or confident. Yet, when he learns that the humans are desperate, he chooses to do a deceptively simple thing: Help them. ___________________________________ @Voyageavecmoi was kind enough to write this review of my book and she described it 100x better than I ever could lol. With her permission, I'm posting it below. Also, check out her book "Flight Risk." It's a sweet and deep romance about two characters negotiating their feelings for each other while life is doing everything to tear them apart. The characters have such mature conversations and, there's no reliance on the miscommunication trope at all. I'm *obsessed.* If you enjoy intriguing fantasy novels with deep and thoughtful themes, check out 'The Gifts of Mortality' by @eleanorkennedy14 . It explores the concept of mortality and how it gives life meaning through the eyes of both gods and humans. The story follows Samil, the god of the Festivals and the Arts, who is shocked by the apathy of his fellow gods when a human terrorist group gains control over the Goddess of Death. Despite finding no support among his kind, he's determined to help the humans, which sets him down an interesting course. There are lots of great twists in this novel, and I also loved seeing how queerness was worked in throughout both the immortal and mortal realms. Samil is a sweet and refreshing character to root for who is determined to see the good in the world.

The Carnisian Empire has been under a generational curse for centuries ever since its emperor performed a covetous ritual to gain eternal life and power over his kingdom. However, the curse backfired, dividing the empire into seven sectors, each representative of one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and he was condemned to watch his people suffer, generation after generation. A group of university students, each born from one of the sin-inflicted sectors, begin to realize they can control their curse, using their sin not as a limitation but as an advantage. Each student will face both internal and external conflicts as they try to uncover an end to the curse. A battle ensues, and serves to test their friendship and dedication to their mission. As their final act, the students realize they must confront the source of the curse itself. There, the true nature of the curse is revealed, and the students face their final most difficult trial yet as they fight to end the curse once and for all.

FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD John Foster is a loner, and that's just the way he likes it. If you lay low and keep quiet, there's not likely to be any drama or chaos to complicate your life. But when John's parents move the family from Sunset Central to the beach town of Celadon Bay, his once quiet and familiar world is suddenly anything but! To add insult to injury, the family must bunk in with John's Aunt Sugar and Uncle Owen-parents of his infamous cousin, Martin-a boy with whom John, (much to his chagrin) must share a room. Martin is everything John is not: extroverted, opinionated, fearless, and most notably, a terrible teenage womanizer! How is this ever going to work? Factor in a little rule breaking, an impromptu adventure or two, some miscommunication, and a whole lot of girls, and poor John is the proverbial 'fish-out-of-water' on the shores of this unfamiliar beach town. But things aren't always as they seem, and, as John is about to discover, people can be full of surprises; even the ones you thought you had all figured out. And sometimes, getting pushed way out of your comfort zone can prove to be life-changing. CELADON BAY is a tender coming-of-age story-one featuring an unlikely friendship, a lot of self-discovery, and the heartfelt and all-encompassing bloom of first love. Ultimately, it's a story that centres around that age-old expression, "Nice guys finish last." Wait... do they?
