Welcome to COMMON ROOM: A Short Story Anthology, written by Wattpad teen writers and edited by the Freshman Fifteens When the Freshman Fifteens formed in 2013, we wanted to share the journey of being a debut author with one another. As time went on, we experienced the generosity--and help--of established authors in the writing community. We wouldn't be about to have our debut books releasing in 2015 without their support and guidance. We wanted to do the same for writers of the future. Guiding the winners of the Wattpad-Freshman Fifteens COMMON ROOM writing contest through the process of writing, revising, and editing their short stories has been a terrific experience--we hope it's been half as fun for these talented writers as it's been for us! We want to thank all fifteen of our mentees for working so very hard since August 2014 on these stories. We think as you read them, you will see it's all been worth it! Will be published in the COMMON ROOM ANTHOLOGY January 2015 When Kaiden toilet papered the Devoted Headquarters, he learned that instead of meeting his Soulmate on July 25th, he's going to die. And there's nothing he can do about it. Unless he agrees to a dangerous, high-stakes plan that will at best, erase everyone's memory of Kaiden and catapult him into a completely new world... Or at worst, have him realize there are more horrifying punishments than death.

Hello to all! This is my entry to the amazing Freshman 15s Contest, titled A Poisoned Pear. When speaking of Johannes Skathi, the words lazy, worthless, and pay the damn rent get thrown around with alarming frequency. After flunking out of magical school, and punching out the guy down at the wizard’s employment office, Johan has ended up in a dead-end job as a rogue-hunter, hunting down all those who’ve broken magical law. Normally, the cases he takes on are small-time criminals; scam artists and petty thieves. But this isn’t a normal case. A powerful magical artifact has gone missing, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. After casting an unpopular vote, one of the members of the ruling Council is found dead in his home, with his ring stolen and his apprentice missing. Johan is sent down to bring the missing apprentice back, at any cost. But as secrets are revealed, and Johan is caught up in games of political intrigue and magical battle, he must decide who, if anyone, it is safe to trust. Johannes Skathi was sent in to hunt a murderer, but with the stakes increasing, he must ask himself; is he the hunter, or the hunted?
