Instead of Edward being Bellas mate and imprint it's his sister Rosalie. Bella is not Quilute but is From the Cherokee tribe in Forks. She moves back in with her dad as a junior but this story is when both Rosalie and Bella find their true mates each other. In the book and the movie Rosalie explains that she doesn't hate Bella for being human but says "Bella I don't hate you I don't particularly like you but Bella I envy you." and this story is where Alice says that and Rosalie is Bellas true soul mate not Edward. She is just his singer meaning her blood sings to him and he has bad history with bloodlust until he goes to Alaska to visit the Denali clan and finds his mate in Kate.
