During the war between Autobots and Decepticons, Soundwave fell in love with someone and decided to have a sparkling with her. But Megatron wanted her and the sparkling to not function, so he killed her. Though he never realized that the sparkling, which Soundwave named "Echowave," was online and with his sire. Despite what has happened, Soundwave is still loyal to his master, but will do anything to save his precious Echowave. Even if it means having to disobey his master.

An alternate universe based in Transformers Prime where Megatron, the Gladiator of Kaon, has a younger brother who travelled the universe a few years after the war on Cybertron first began. One day on earth, Team Prime discovers the younger gladiator's pod and bring him back to base, where they soon discover who he really is. To the point where her life literally hangs by a thread again. And, someone beneath the surface of the planet, plans vengeance against those who banished him. Including against a young dragon who is only related by energon.
