Maya's world isn't going as she planned. She's not doing well in school, her dad left her when she was little, her mom is never home and when she is, she hits and abuses Maya. On top of school, maya has to work two jobs just to earn enough money to get food. Even though it isn't going well, she's managing to survive with the help of her three best friends. Will maya end up ok, or will she end up and broken as her mom?

At JQA middle school, life for Maya Hart is about the same every day. That is, until a project is assigned, feelings change, truths come out, and it seems like nothing will ever be the same again. Will anyone be able to pick up the broken peices?

The group is now Riley, Lucas, and Farkle. Maya is forgotten until one day she offers to help Lucas clean a cut and a new interest in their old friend causes them to wonder about the secrets, but Maya has no interest on sharing them with people she does not trust.

When John Quincy Adams High School hosts a school-wide project including an over night stay at NYU for a couple of weeks, boys and girls are paired up for a more "realistic" experience. What happens when the roommates get a little too close for comfort. - Keep in mind guys this is my first book!
