The unique thing about his group is that there are no adults to boss them around and create violence. He had always been the leader of the group ever since the beginning and since the group thinks adults are always leading them to trouble, they want to make sure they stay away from them. However, when Tyler and his group come into contact with another group of survivors, he sees a boy around his age named Carl. Tyler starts to wonder if Carl is actually happy with his own group or not. If he isn't, Tyler starts to consider the thought of maybe joining his group. Even if Carl's group has an adult for a leader.
