An with the early introduction of single winged carrier-based aircraft, came the complete, full understanding by the majority of the world, that place for Battleships, beyond an escort platform, or shore bombardment roll... Had seen it's end, and WWII, was where those who had not yet accepted such news before their very eyes as gospel, realized their mistakes, too little, too late. Germany, being such a country, to realize the truth, to late... With much of their navy destroyed by aircraft, instead of cannon fire from other vessels. . . Across the world, Battleships, sink every day, not a single Carrier sinking to surface guns of a battleship, they seemed untouchable. It was clear, it was obvious. The age of Battleship, had ended, and had been ended long ago. . . But despite the writing on the wall, in 1940, June 7th, one battlecruiser, one warship proved to the world. Defying every single odd, defying the new pecking order, screaming out as if it say. We're not done yet. In one final flicker of hope, for the Battleship and Battlecruiser Platform, as war time vessels moving on into the future. . . One... Challenged a Carrier head on.
