"Come closer," Adyant said softly. "Or should I?" Arya held her ground for exactly two seconds. Then he moved-and she stepped back. Once. Twice. The wall stopped her. "Adyant-" she began, but her voice lacked its usual bite. He noticed. Of course he did. "What?" he asked, quieter now. Not teasing-watching. That was new. He stepped closer, slower this time, like he was giving her space to stop him. She didn't. Her heartbeat turned traitor. Loud. Uneven. Arya shut her eyes, annoyed at herself more than him. "I don't do this," she said, barely above a whisper. A pause. "Neither do I," he replied. And that-more than anything-made her open her eyes. There was no smirk. No certainty. Just something restrained. Controlled. Chosen. That should've been her warning. Instead, she stayed. His hand brushed her wrist-hesitant for a fraction of a second-before he leaned in and kissed her. Not like a claim. Like a decision he wasn't used to making. -------------------- Every girl has grown up listening to stories of saviours and Prince Charmings.
