Schoolteacher Fiona is on a mission for grandpa - find a missing Zimbabwean artefact, the precious soapstone Bird of the Gods. Conrad - dodgy archaeologist contracted to the stunning influencer Amanda aka #mandalove - has the same job. When Fiona and Conrad's paths cross, what was supposed to be a straightforward quest turns into a crazy race around the world. With antagonists popping up at every corner - from mountain tops to underground settings like Serbian caves, frozen Canadian crypts, and the silver mines of the old West, Fiona and Conrad have to work together to catch their bird. Mutual respect grows into something more intimate. But not everything is quite as it seems, and they had better watch their backs lest they too end up underground, this time permanently.

Marissa has a bad day. Not only does she lose her job, but her childhood imaginary friend turns up in her home. And Wompy is not a cute little puppy or a cuddly kitten, but a large bat. Why now? She has forsworn her magical skills years ago, and never looked back. As an editor, she definitely has no use for a familiar, at least of all a bat. But when her new job turns out to be more sinister than she expected and she has to decide whom to trust in an increasingly alien world, turning to a familiar might not be the worst option. My entry to the Wattpad Ambassadors' ONC 2025, based on Prompt #105 : Your childhood imaginary friend, who disappeared years ago, suddenly returns - only this time, they're real.

I never expected this to happen. But it did. Who knew that rescuing a broken winged canary would lead to me being able to transform? It would seem like a blessing to most, and in a way, it is. Except for the fact that I'm kinda, sorta... On the run. Sometimes, people refer to me as the girl who speaks to birds. And I guess I am. ***Highest Ranking: #95 (8-28-15)*** I wrote this when I was 11 - 12, it definitely has its flaws, I am aware of them. All the same, people enjoy this book, so I'm keeping it up.
