Richtig bergab geht es aber erst einige Jahre später nach seiner Flucht. Anatol Nye ist der „Reine" des Landes Genrivien. Seine großen magischen Fähigkeiten rühren alleine von seiner Unschuld her. Um ebenjene zu wahren, fristet er sein gesamtes Leben auf einem riesigen Anwesen am Rande der Hauptstadt Landra. Gut behütet, unwissend, abgeschottet von jedweden schlechten Einflüssen. Bis ein Gefangenentransporter durch das Dach seines Wellnesszimmers kracht und er von einem unhöflichen Mann als Geisel genommen wird. Eine Hetzjagd nach der Wahrheit beginnt, in deren Verlauf einer etwas um jeden Preis erlangen und der andere etwas auf keinen Fall verlieren will. Und an deren Ende kein Friede wartet ...
