As a child, Ashne swore two oaths. With her adopted sister Zsaran she made a pact: one would never die without the other. To their mistress, the queen, who plucked them both out of the inhospitable marshlands, she vowed eternal loyalty. When a tiger spirit from a rival kingdom kidnaps the queen's only daughter, Ashne, now a trusted bodyguard, follows in pursuit despite knowing that her sword will be of little use against the ancient magic steadily reawakening across the land. But it is her human adversaries who prove more dangerous as she navigates the shifting political landscape in a kingdom still recovering from a decades-long war: a foreign sorcerer, an eccentric apothecary, an ambitious bandit chief — perhaps even Zsaran, who has long awaited a chance to achieve freedom for both herself and Ashne. Soon Ashne can no longer reconcile her love for her sister and her devotion to the women they have both served since childhood. Yet she must bring back the princess regardless. If not for love and duty, for her people's continued survival against the encroachment of powerful foreign conquerors, before whose ravenous ambitions the squabbles of two tribal kingdoms amount to dust.

The fetching vampire quickly wiped her finger over the mans mouth to shut him up. "Shh.... This is the end. I don't have sympothy for pathetic trash like you. Maybe in your next life you will be a better human." Nikita squealed as her now Red eyes met his blue ones. Then in one swift movement she sank her fangs into the mans throbbing neck and sucked the life out of him. She could feel herself getting stronger as his sweet warm blood filled her veins and reached throughout her tiny body. When she was done drinking and the blood no longer tasted as sweet, she pulled away from the mans limp body and looked into his almost empty eyes. She could hear him as he struggled to take his last breath. She did what any good vampire would do, she snapped his neck to end his suffering.

I was in a park, decorated beyond splendor.. But of course only I would know that. A thin cloud of mist hung around the edges of my vision, and I realized it was an illusion. I started backing away, knowing that I was trapped and I had to face my enemy head on. Then out of nowhere, a body formed before my eyes, and all I saw was the gleaming white fangs and the dark red lips that tried to bite my neck. I jumped, but couldn't dodge it. The fangs sank into my arm, agony spread and I tried to scream.... Only to wake up. But somehow, from that dream, I had acquired a scar, a throbbing, red scar of a rose, right on my arm. "The count down begins" I heard from my TV, which was on and the volume down to a bare minimum, and I shuddered. Don't look too much into this-I told myself, but I had a suspicious feeling that I should, very much look into this. I was right.
