A ship-human was supposed to be a metal human connected to it's ship. Theoretically, they were made to determine problems in the ship, giving the ship a voice. However the Titanic's ship-human was met with an unfortunate fate, much like the ship itself. Ship-humans can't leave the ship they're apart of, and all damage done to the ship is done to them.
