Ever since I can remember, my brother has always said that I was to be with anyone, just not him. And he truly means anyone, Just not him. And even amongst the town filled with many boys--all of which would never bat an eye at me because I am practically invisible--they knew of my brothers unspoken rule. At the beginning, I abided by his rule because he has good reasoning as to why I should stay away, and after all I had been told about Hunter Pierson, I wanted to steer clear. Well, maybe that is what I used to think. Before I met him. But not anymore. Not now. Before him, the world was a complete different place, and now after him--with him, that is just it. Amidst staring into his deep blue eyes, I found a sense of forever, and whilst doing so, I broke my brothers childish rule because I realised that there are more to people than just rumours and labels.

"I'm scared," she whispers tearfully, clutching my shirtsleave in both of her tiny, trembling hands. She looks up at me with those big, terrified brown eyes and I nearly come undone. Desperately needing to see her bright, happy smile once more, I send her a warm, reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Princess. You'll be perfectly safe with me." With her lower lip trembling, she nods and worriedly glances behind her where we entered the alley. "But what if they find us?" My heart clenches at the thought of her going back to that hell hole and my fist clenches at the thought of them laying a finger on her. "They won't, I won't let them." I will die before they touch her. Silence falls like a blanket over us, the only sounds around us are the dripping of water in the pipes and our own breaths. Suddenly, men's voices break the silence and my heart starts beating ten times faster. My gaze slides to her panicked expression and I grit my teeth as a sudden wave of anger washes over me. This is all their fault. Pressing a calloused finger to her soft trembling lips, I quickly usher her into an abandoned shack and softly close the door behind me. ■■■ Grayson Steel had been in and out of foster homes for as long as he could remember, occasionally in the random orphanage. He lit his cigarette, I lit nothing. He drank alcohol, I drank water. He smirked, I smiled. He didn't love me, I didn't love him. He and I together wouldn't last a day. And then the game started... He said he found me intriguing, unique, and interesting because I didn't swoon over him. "You and me Grey, let's play a game. We'll date and in three months time I promise you will fall for me. When you fall in love with me between that time span, I win. If in any way you were to win I'll give up all the alcohol, cigarettes, and player ways." It was a game I wasn't willing to lose, but all games had accidents and consequences. It takes a broken heart to know how to break a heart.
