"Etiquette and politeness according to me, need to be treated right. That is, it needs to be given to the right people." "And I think that you believe that 99.99% of people don't deserve that." His lips curved to hint an arrogant smile. "Invariably." "Don't you think that depicts derision for normalcy? Not everyone can be perfect enough to receive your impeccable politeness." "You must realize one thing, Ms. Kapoor, I don't like anything short of excellence. So, I extend my graciousness accordingly." ..... Yeah. And that's just one tiny conversation with him. Being Sameera Kapoor, I cant tell you that the name would bring you some great responses. Most of which would talk about my ability to disregard rules and talk my way out of things. Teachers, of course, might have another opinion. But when my boss, the ever-so-esteemed Robert Davidson, recruited me, I should have thought of the repercussions that could result then and there. The repercussions started after he demanded for an audience with Vidhyuth Chopra. We-el. Easier said than done, mister. We are talking about a Devil here. A grey eyed, arrogant looking, sculpted face bearing, accented, ultra successful Devil, who has taken an immediate and intense dislike for me. Now, now, now, its not like I am one of his serial fangirls too, talk about a dire need for an Attitude Adjustment. Anyway, in the advent of this, mysteries get solved, pasts get dug and brought up, closure is in the verge of getting- closed? (I am sorry, it's kind of difficult to talk deep stuff about myself), and I, Sameera Kapoor, along with a crazy set of people go through life as a fantastic 24 year old. So hop in! Lets have some fun! WELCOME! Get ready to love me! Copyright guys. No imitation of this work is permissible.

He was seated at the head of the table, his laptop open in front of him, no doubt already prepared to ask us a bunch of invasive questions. But he wasn't looking at the screen. He was looking at me. Stopping in my tracks, I looked back, wondering if I had spilt something on my clothes. A quick look down showed that nothing was out of the ordinary. So I looked up again to find his meditative gaze fixed on me, sizing me up. Now my gaze narrowed. "What?" I asked, trying to bring politeness into my accusatory tone. He seemed to notice that my effort had failed because he raised an eyebrow, his head tilting to the side as he appraised me. "You're the head of marketing for FMCG?" he finally asked, his rich voice giving me a picture of a high bank balance. Some people just have the voice that feels like a fat cheque. He has that voice in a low, deep register. "Yes," I replied, trying to not get distracted by his intimidating presence. "What are you; 12?" he asked, in a quietly scoffing tone. What the- My eyes narrowed further. "No." Fresh off her devastating breakup, young and talented Dhriti Kumar heads back to India after her overdramatic mother's recent meltdown about her single status. Once upon a time, men and women entered marriage with very clear policies regarding the division of labour: he would go to work and "bring home the bacon," while she would stay at home and cook, clean, and raise the children. Things aren't the same as they used to be. Modern Indian romance, intimacies, and marriages are far more complicated than assessments and reality television shows portray. In India, arranged marriages are an unique and complex process. People seek a 'soulmate' with whom they can spend the rest of their lives, but they also have specific expectations of the potential bride or groom. There is a strong narrative about finding love, compatibility, and connection, but what stands out is a real intent to replicate class identities beneath all of this. In a country that depends on a spending population, "middle class" is a necessary armour, a shared language, a value system, and, more importantly, a way of life. Life may be unjust, irritating, and disarmingly disappointing on most days. Being middle class, on the other hand, creates character in a culture obsessed with the need to be a part of the rat race. Marriage also places the onus of making sacrifices, concessions, and making the marriage work on the couple. This tale illuminates the unseen and underappreciated aspects of an Indian arranged marriage, the life of a middle-class wife and husband and their shared responsibilities as they navigate through life. Immense amount of desi tadka awaiting your way. *I don't own the illustration on the poster.*
