The trade had been sudden, the kind that no one had seen coming. But in a sport like hockey, trades were part of the game. And for Rainier Colton, the enforcer, the bruiser, the player who had spent years being passed around like an afterthought, it was just another day in the life. It had been a hard decision, but this time, there was no escape. The Vipers were sending him to the Devils, and there wasn't a thing he could do about it. He didn't want to go, but what was the alternative? He had nowhere to belong. He didn't belong anywhere. The trade was one more page in the story of his career-a career defined by being the "hired muscle," the guy who played hard and left everything on the ice. What he wasn't prepared for, though, was Ambrose Wheaton. Ambrose was the captain of the Devils-dominant, confident, everything Rainier wasn't. He was a natural leader, the kind of player who made his team feel like a family. Ambrose was known for his strength, his presence, and his unwavering care for his teammates. Rainier? He was the outsider. The loner. The guy who kept his distance. But there was something in Ambrose's gaze when he first saw Rainier. A challenge, an invitation, something that made Rainier's pulse quicken, even if he wasn't ready to admit it.

William Harrington has everything a college hockey captain should: control, discipline, and a plan for the NHL. Ethan Ward has a future at the same NHL team and a massive temper problem. When Ethan transfers to Will's team and moves into his off-campus house, the ice cracks fast. They can't agree on anything-practice, plays, or who used the last of the coffee. Their chemistry on the ice is electric. Off it? Volatile. But behind the fights and the frost, something warmer is starting to build. The only problem? Everyone's watching-scouts, reporters, teammates-and one wrong move could destroy both their futures. Enemies on the ice. Roommates at home. Something dangerous in between.

I'm the all A's hockey superstar, I can't afford to get distracted by the guy I could argue hardly cares about his hockey career going anywhere. Wyatt: Hockey is what I've been spending my whole life trying to be the best at. I wanted to get into a good college, with a good hockey program. I got that. Now my goal is to get drafted by a good team in the NHL. I can't have my eyes straying. Yet they do, and they catch on the worst person possible. Caden: I never put much effort into being good at hockey. I just am. As a left wing for my college hockey team, I get into a lot of fights on the ice. Ok, and maybe off of it too. I choose to not care what anyone thinks, and that infuriates a lot of people. Mainly Wyatt. Although Wyatt and Caden might come to blows, often with fists, it'll be their hearts that take the Hardest Hit.
