Have I mentioned the various psychopaths, mobsters, and criminals that are trying to kill me? 15 year old Peter Parker has been the Spectacular Spider-Man for 4 months, but summer is over, and he faces his biggest challenge yet: Sophomore Year at Midtown High. Sinister forces are rising, with the likes of Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin, not to mention the gang wars led by the mysterious "Big Man." And if that wasn't enough, Peter's struggling to help his aunt pay the bills after his uncle's death. MASKED MAN FOILS ROBBERY Witnesses claim an unknown masked man was seen exiting Delmar's Bodega after stopping two suspects from attempting to rob the establishment. Police Captain Jean DeWolff said "We've heard of good Samaritans, but in my 10 year tenure, I've never seen anything like this." The two criminals were taken to county jail. The identity of the man is unknown, but police are looking into the matter, and request anyone with potentially valuable information to step forward. AKA Who is this masked vigilante?

Unbeknownst to anyone, a small indigo and scarlet spider had escaped her casing and was crawling up the side of a desk. Attracted to the vibrations it was sending out, the tiny arachnid climbed onto the table, but no one noticed. Peter pressed his fingers to the plasma ball. Startled by the sudden movement and unexpected interruption of the vibrations, the spider jumped up and bit the boy on the back of his hand. AKA Peter gets bitten by the spider.

Four-year-old Peter pointed at the television. "What's a fuselage?" "It's the main body of an airplane, with the crew, passengers, cargo..." May trailed off when she noticed exactly what was on the screen. "Peter," she said, swallowing down a wave of fear, "Go get your uncle. Please." "...no survivors have been found on Flight B307GH." "Wasn't that Mary and Richard's flight?" asked Ben nervously. AKA May and Ben adopt Peter after his parents die.
