A race of human beings with horrific ancestry, an Empire's conquest of a faraway island, a man's search for divinity. Here lies Gehenna, here lie the damned. ***This novel contains mentions of violence, murder, rape & suicide -- Reader Discretion Advised*** Author's Note: Growing up with shows like Supernatural and Black Butler, reading novels like Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth, and most importantly reading the Bible the full way through, I've gotten extremely fascinated by the esoteric aspects of Christian mythology and Biblical lore. This story is inspired heavily by such Christian motifs and symbolism, specifically the Nephilim and the Book of Enoch. The setting of the story, rather than being the modern world, is instead the Age of Discovery. The reason being that, this era - the early 16th century, was a tumultous period when Christianity was spread via the early colonial Empires, and much of it involved horrific tales of the Inquisition and subjugation of conquered peoples. What better a place, then, for a novel inspired by Christian mythology than such a period? ----------------------------------------------------------- Highest Tag Rankings: 1st in #thought-provoking --- November 22nd, 2022 2nd in #cosmichorror --- September 30th, 2022 3rd in #lovecraftian --- September 8th, 2022 3rd in #biblical --- January 19th, 2023

Synopsis: The Forsworn follows av'Shalm Saul, a truth-seeking former Dragoon, a protector of his homeland the Fletlans, branded a traitor by his people the Beast Mavens and despised by the Voszian off-worlders interested only in profiting from the status quo of forced labor on the world of Cirque and across galactic civilization. But forces from the Beyond beckon, and a transdimensional journey of discovery begins as Shalm and his allies attempt to forestall Reality's self-appointed Elders from splintering time-space itself. Meanwhile, Shalm's friends, formers, and rivals scramble to protect the inhabitants of Cirque from the coming storms, unified by a common enemy. The Forsworn pits a cast of characters who've awakened to the self-interested leaders and damaging structures around them as they struggle to change the Many Worlds for the better-not for themselves alone, but for the masses who are their friends, their family, and the future.

Fear the dark. Bar the doors. Don't breathe a word. Wait for the Hooded Men to save you. The people of Nictaven live in fear of the night; governed by magic no one save a few can control, in a land plagued by demons and cannibal tribes, and isolated from all other worlds for centuries, they're right to. Only the Unspoken, a secretive guild of warriors linked with the land and its magic, provide any safety when darkness falls. For centuries, it has stayed like this. But in an abandoned crypt worlds away, Jordan Haverford is about to change that. It wasn't quite the holiday he had been hoping for. Plunged into a world where who you are and what you believe can kill you, a world of demons and knives in the dark and wars fought from behind the doors of the rich, Jordan's gentle Oxford upbringing isn't quite sufficient preparation. Instantly a pawn in a deadly game, separated from his sister and watched from the shadows by an assassin with a vendetta, he finds himself in the company of an Unspoken who has an uncanny knack for finding the Gifted - and Jordan can't seem to get rid of him. Sin and symphony. That's all a necromancer needs. Octavia is a woman of many hats -- a maestro, an educator, a wanderer and an accomplished liar, and she wears all of them at once if need be. Masquerading as a music teacher, she travels the world on a mission to rid it of the netherborne -- a scourge from beyond the grave. When her travels take her to the tiny island of Hedalda, she finds a town on its knees, under the heel of the netherborne, and a people who believe necromancers are the worst thing to happen to humanity. Wit and a song, necromancy through music, was all she ever needed. But this time it isn't enough. The scourge looms larger with each song Octavia plays, and to save Hedalda she must navigate a web of deceit, look beyond sin and symphony, all while keeping her true identity a secret.
