The Captain was silent for so long that she started to believe he had not heard her. She could feel the eyes of the crew upon her, but they were nothing compared to the crushing weight of the Captain's intense gaze. He took a few menacing steps toward her stopping only when they were inches apart and Violet had to crane her neck back to look at him. Though they were close he spoke loud enough for the crew to hear, "has he seen you?" Violet blinked at him, not understanding, his voice took on a harder edge and he repeated the question.
