Kathryn 'Katie' Jackson is pregant with her gambling boyfriends baby. She works part-time at a diner and full time at a high school as a cheer coach. She tries to live a decent life with the cards dealt to her. With her expecting and her boyfriend not being able to keep a job they dont have a lot of money to support their child. Then her and her best friend (Annie) come up with a plan to rob Annie's job with Annie's older sister (Beth) and their friend (Ruby) who also need money. Robbery gon successfully thanks to Katie's excellent hacking skills and distraction. They get their share of money. Katie hides her share in envelope so her boyfriend wont find it. Their celebration is brief when Katie and the girls come to her house and find Rio and three other guys in her kitchen. They find out the money they stole belonged to him. They have to figure out how to pay him back. Especially since Katie's boyfriend stole her portion and gambled it all. Fortunately for the girls, Katie used to be in gang in high school so she manages to crack a deal with Rio to work for him to pay off their debt. But Katie and Rio start butting heads every chance they get. Rio takes a special liking to Katie and her fiesty and selfless personality. Now he'll do whatever it takes to make her submit to him...or work with him.
