I just can't resist writing Cora in her first years at Downton missing her family and doubting her choice to accept Robert when his mother cares for her so little. Cora has three Allies in Rosamund and Patrick, and Mrs. Hughes, who is also new to Downton, but she's not sure about the butler who seems to have much of the same opinions as Violet about her. It's even more difficult when she's pregnant with her first child and Robert is called up to fight in the Boer Wars.

At the end of season one Mary decided not to accept Matthew here's an alternative version where she did and Cora still had the baby. There is still heartbreak to come(because apparently that's all I write).

Summary: Lord and Lady Grantham have invited the Duke of Crowburogh to their home believing he has an interest in their eldest daughter, Mary. Since it doesn't end up to his advantage he decides the Mistress of the house is better suited to his needs.
