The car door slammed shut. I shivered with the reverberation of the car but didn't make a sound. He was the man I loved. I looked from the car as he ordered tea and snacks to eat. He munched those snacks without looking back at me. He was not like this. My stomach grumbled to wake me up from my mental munchings. I was hungry. Very very hungry. I hadn't eaten anything since we landed. Shouldn't I walk out and get something for me? But I didn't even have to check my purse to know it was empty. It was a very fancy and expensive piece he bought me. What if I go out and he gets angry? He didn't invite me out. I would wait here. He was angry. But he was a good man. He was kind. He would buy me food. It was not just safe to go out and eat for ladies like me. That's why he didn't call me. After a few minutes he returned with empty hands and drove forward. I sat there shocked. It was not just physical hunger but humiliation that froze my brain. You feed a piece of bread to a dog looking at you in street. Didn't I mean that much to him? How much more can a person fall? Not more than me. From seventh heaven to hell. My gaze shifted to the side view mirror. I didn't want to look at my eyes. What would I do if I see sorrow?
