(Must Read the first book before reading this) It's been three years since Wirt sacrificed himself to The Beast to save his brother and friends. Now, everyone has forgotten about him. Everyone, except Greg, who still believes that his brother is still alive. It's almost as if Wirt is following him... Over The Garden Wall belongs to Patrick McHale.

Wirt has been offered a deal by the beast, and he knows he cannot refuse. He has to save his brother. He roams the forest endlessly, the beasts eyes forever watching, peeping through the trees... but with his best friend Beatrice by his side, and his brothers soul in the lantern... they're together, alone.

*WARNING* This story contains spoilers for the ending of the show Over the Garden Wall. Please proceed with caution. In a different turn of events, Wirt, desperate to save his younger brother Greg, decides to take the beast's deal. However, the beast's intentions were far more treacherous than he had expected. Rather than Greg's spirit being placed into the lantern, the spirit of the beast is placed inside - Wirt's spirit. With the role of the beast now given to Wirt, the identity of the previous beast is revealed. Now, with his brother taken over by the beast, Greg, with the help Beatrice and a few others, must find a way to bring Wirt back - or accept his terrible fate.

Wirt finds himself wandering around the Unknown again, without Greg or even Jason Funderburker (the frog, of course) to keep him company. Upon running into familiar territory, Wirt begins to put two and two together about why and what the Unknown really is. ((Please bear with me, this is my first story and I'm just experimenting here))

Wirt's life is going well. Unless you consider romance is part of life. Wirt is pretty sure he is back home... Pretty sure... What if The Beast made another deal with Wirt? A/N After the Last Chapter i always love the thought of what if The Beast made a different deal? Like instead of leaving Greg to die or what so not making Wirt keep the lantern on, he instead made a deal that he won't hurt (or kill) Greg if they both stayed with him (so Wirt didn't really thought about why The Beast was so obsessed with the Lantern). Like he keeps them and make them as if they were his kids! Ya know! Because i always love to think that even though creatures like him are evil and cruel and just beyond ugly, they just want some thing to care for and love or they just don't want to be alone (cuz i think even the darkest people hate being alone xP). Along with that having a scary looking monster like him seems kind of cool x)

After everything, Wirt protected his brother but sacrificed himself in the end. What will happen to the once awkward teenager turned into a monster? Will he be the child he once was or will he change into the thing he hated most? After all this is the unkown, and the unknown is a true mystery. Two teenagers get lost in a mysterious forest with no way out. After what happened three summers ago, Mabel and Dipper has changed, yet they haven't stopped adventuring their wondrous world of mystery. How much have these teens changed and how will they respond to this bizarre situation? (I do not own any of the characters in OTGW or GF) This is my first fan fiction so I hope u guys like it. I've written before so I think my skills are alright.

Exploring the idea of Wirt blowing the lantern out, and the concept of "He who kills the beast, becomes the beast".

Continuation/ connects with "heart of gold but his hands are cold" The tragic story of how Wirt sacrifices everything to protect his brother and the Beast's twisted plan to keep Wirt trapped inside his own mind while the beast uses him to collect oil for the lantern (This is gonna switch around to several points of view just saying)
