La guerra contro Gea è conclusa e i semidei possono avere finalmente un po' di pace, o almeno in apparenza: i ragazzi del Campo Mezzosangue e del Campo Giove sono feriti, stanchi e segnati dalle due guerre affrontate una di seguito all'altra. La maggior parte degli dei vorrebbe aiutarli, ma alcuni non sono d'accordo, tra cui Zeus stesso. Ciò ha portato il consiglio in una situazione di stallo, dove nessuna delle due parti è disposta a cedere e cambiare idea. Le Parche, capendo la gravità della situazione, decidono che è il momento di cambiare le cose e intervenire personalmente . Le tre, fanno la loro comparsa nella sala del trono, con un piano per risolvere il problema e, possibilmente, cambiare gli dei e la situazione dei mezzosangue: leggere le imprese compiute da Percy Jackson e i suoi amici. Per rendere più efficace il piano e, magari, risolvere in piccola parte anche degli errori passati, le Parche decidono di coinvolgere nella lettura anche alcuni semidei che la storia sembra aver dimenticato.
