Before the events of MK's journey, reader moves into the city, and works at a cafe as the baker. She keeps her powers a secret with the idea that magic does not exist, and her empathy abilities are different compared to a diagnosis. She lives a peaceful life until she encounters the Monkey King which makes her question herself throughout the story. He helps her unlock her true potential, and during their time together they gain feelings for one another. However, one of them is not being honest with themselves thus causes a rift between the two throughout the story allowing another player (Macaque) to swoop in for reader's comfort.

They're more of a humanoid mythical being that likes to walk amongst the humans I suppose. There will be POV's of other characters whenever the reader is away, and lots of 3rd person/no one's POV's. They are rather mysterious, and Tang sees them as familiar but he can't quite put his finger on it (ever noticed lego skeletons hands?? why the hands move like that are the bones just really really flexible? okay I'm done).
