In 1511 Poland, two brothers survive a fire that should have killed them, only to learn that some fates burn far longer than flesh.
As their wounds heal, Benjamin's life slowly unravels through grief, missteps, and the fading of the people he loves.
He eventually come to understand that some fires do not die.
