Kennedy Thomas became a police officer, following in the footsteps of her absent father, not out of a sense of duty but rather out of knowing there wasn't another option other than to be poor or be a housewife. She's not prepared for what it means to work and live in a small Arkansas Town that's not even found on most conventional maps, where the GPS doesn't work at all, and there's never any signal, and she's definitely not prepared for the supernatural forces awaiting her in the disastrous town known as Blair Peeks.
