Joyce and Virginia are sisters living in Oklahoma in the 1950's. Their dad is an abusive drug-addict and their mom must practically raise them on her own. When they must run away and live in the woods Joyce comes across her best friend and lover who has been missing ever since his parents died in a gas leakage a year ago.
