The Roaring Twenties: a time of prosperity, fortune, and good luck. Everyone in America had the opportunity to become someone and to actually do something. Well, almost everyone. Margaret Carroll is a newly arrived Irish immigrant. Along with her cousin Edward, Margaret looks to make a name for herself in the prosperous country of the United States. But being stuck in the slums of New York City was not what she expected. Her only option is to continue working as a "wage-slave" in the horrible conditions of the closest manufacturing factory and hope for a brighter future. The 1920's also marked the beginning of the Prohibition Era, an effort for an improvement in a declining society. With the outlawing of alcohol, bootleggers began to rise. In New York City, one of the most notorious leaders of the underground business is Johnny Nelson. The Nelson empire was built from the first days that prohibition was out into effect. But with so much success, something was bound to go wrong...
