Blue. The color made him angry. The blue of his eyes, the blue of his breath. Sanemi Shinazugawa hated it, he hated everything about the color blue. Blue was the color of Giyu Tomioka.

He never told them. Giyuu was always so silent, so quiet. He never wanted to burden the others. But had they known about his illness, he would have made them worry. If only he had told them. If only he had told him.

He couldn't take it much longer. Giyuu Tomioka had wanted to die for years now. He held on because of the promise he made for Sabito. But that wasn't enough in the end. The harsh words of the other hashira, the endless thoughts running through his head would be the end of him. The five stages of grief would take another life.

When Tomioka Giyuu rescues a little girl, he expected her to want to find her parents. Instead she pleaded for him to not make her go back. Taking the young girl in, he soon adopts her and raises her as his own without the hashira knowing.
