Joanne Ziegler, the older cousin of Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, is a newcomer to the Abby Lee Dance Company when she's brought onto a new documentary show about her... strong-willed dance teacher. As the show progresses and Joanne gets better and better, coming closer to her goal of being a professional ballerina, the drama between the mothers worsens. Joanne must also deal with her own traumatic past and keep focused on her goals.

Melody Raine Ziegler, Maddie and Mackenzie's little sister. The youngest daughter of the divorced Kurt and Melissa. Melody loved dance, it was her safe haven from everything else going on in her life. She starts out four years old during the first season. Getting put on a t.v. show at a young age, provides enough stress already, but with the moms and Abby? Your in for trouble. Throughout the show, Melody fights to become her own person and not seen as the two girls little sister. Dancing since she was two years old her life has always been 'living on the dance floor'. As filming for the newest Lifetime original series, Dance Moms, begins, four girls (3 sisters and 1 niece), audition for the team and are selected to compete together. Genevieve, the eldest at 9 years old, is a fierce and determined dancer who always pushes herself to be perfect. Next is Siobhan, 7 years old and known for her flexibility and grace on stage. Then there's little Aurora and Melanie, just 4 and 3 but full of talent beyond their years. Each girl brings a unique style and attitude to their routines; Genevieve with her classical ballet training, Siobahn with her contemporary flair, Aurora with her hip-hop swagger, and Melanie with her fiery personality on stage when it comes to jazz. The four girls quickly become fan favorites on the show, inspiring each other to work harder and reach new levels of success as dancers. However, with four strong personalities under one roof tensions begin to rise as they navigate the competition world alongside their demanding dance coach Abby Lee Miller. The Tomlinson girls must learn to lean on each other for support as they face intense rivalries within the group while striving towards their ultimate goal of winning National Champions at nationals. Ultimately though, it will be family that carries them through this challenging journey together.
