Postman Ira Dixon, nearing retirement, is invited inside, and leaves his mailbag in the vestibule, where it is stolen. Nancy is summoned by postal authorities, who accuse her of being involved in the theft, which threatens the postman's pension and career. In the meantime, she is invited to spend a weekend as a guest of Ned Nickerson at Emerson College, where a big football game will take place, and she prepares for the trip. Nancy encounters low-brow Mrs. "Sailor" Joe Skeets, who accuses her of wrongdoing due to her own missing letter containing money, stolen with the mailbag. Strangely, the letters are re-posted later. Nancy receives a letter from British solicitors informing her of a Nancy Smith Drew, sought as the heiress of an estate there. Nancy has no middle name or initial and she searches for her namesake. The primary suspect becomes Edgar Dixon, the half brother of her mail carrier, a flashy man in a yellow coat. Mrs. Skeets provides a clue, as does George Fayne, and Nancy discovers her counterpart is visiting faculty at Emerson. Ned performs well in the big game, during which Nancy sees the suspect in the stadium. Nancy tries to make contact with Nancy S. Drew.

The Yellow Feather Mystery is Volume 33 in the original The Hardy Boys Mystery Stories published by Grosset & Dunlap. Author :- Franklin Dixon. The Hardy Boys go skating up Willow River toward Woodson Academy where they meet their chum Gregory Woodson. Greg tells them about how his grandfather died seven weeks prior but no one has been able to find his will where he presumably leaves the Woodson Academy to Greg. Greg is also curious about a strange letter that he received which was a blank piece of paper with small rectangular cutouts arranged horizontally and the word 'Hardy' printed on it. With the grandfather's will missing, the school's headmaster Henry Kurt is trying to assume ownership of the school against Greg Woodson's wishes. As the story progresses the Hardy Boys and their friends find themselves being attacked by unknown assailants until eventually they are able to locate the missing will and trap the dangerous criminal and solve the Yellow Feather mystery

For those who have read the Treasure at Dolphin bay, which is a Hardy boys book, this kinda starts off the same, and then becomes its own thing. They want to partake in the whole college experience, meeting new friends, going out to wild parties, and finding time to learn between it all. Juggling the two mysteries keeps the boys on their toes, but when a missing person's case comes knocking at their door, the boys have to race time to find the answers to all of them before it's too late.

When a set of strange occurrences happen around the Green Dragon, Daisy Took and her friends look into it, resulting in a solution they could have never seen coming.
