James, the fiercest metal frontman, meets Kristen, the girl that will shatter all his defenses and submit his heart, inspiring the most beautiful love song. I've always wondered about the mysterious girl behind Nothing Else Matters. There is not much information available, but Mike Wall in his Metallica biography: Enter Night, mentions Kristen Martinez as the girlfriend that James dated between the recording of And Justice For All and the Black Album (1987-1991), and to whom he says the song was written to, as the "only time James ever acknowledged publicly his feelings for her".
