Izuku Midoriya never actually intended on becoming a vigilante, it just sort of happened. He stayed out late to avoid his mother at night, and got to know pro hero Eraserhead as a result. He's going to try and become a pro, if not for himself then for the other quirkless kids that need someone to believe in, and that believes in them. -- cross posted on ao3 under the same username!!

Izuku was denied the one thing that he loved: being a hero. At age 11, he was told he couldn't be a hero by the #1 hero and his idol, All Might. He had almost took his life at that point, but Eraser Head found him and took him home. Eraser Head said Izuku could become a hero if he put the work into it, regardless if he had a quirk or not, and Izuku took those words to heart. So he started a plan to become a vigilante; a hero who wasn't bound by the law. All Izuku wanted to do was save people, and he will. Izuku will shove it in All Might's face that he can in fact become a hero, all while being quirkless. I can't remember where I got this idea, could be from another book but I can't find it so I can't credit it. Anyways... For as long as Izuku could remember, there were Vigilanties filling in the grey lines where heroes wouldn't. If a hero was walking past a kid stuck in a tree, the would continue to walk whereas a vigilatie would help. Maybe a hero wasn't a realistic dream but maybe a vigilante?

When the world ends, their only hope is to send one Quirkless man back in time. Back in his 14-year-old body, will Midoriya Izuku be able to save the world that shunned him all his life? And will he finally be able to become a hero this go around? Good thing he had time as a vigilante to practice.
