Instead of hiding she uses her new found abilities to help people in a society that sees her as the enemy. Jumping from temporary home to home, becoming a part time super-powered crime fighter, and having a secret relationship with her girlfriend Kida in a homophobic city, makes life a mind boggling mess but it's nothing she can't handle ... well that was before someone comes to adopt her.

After Emerald gets kidnapped by her adopted parents, Nichole and Mike Cyrus, better known as The Shadow, Luke, and Kida, are hunting to find her. Yet, the police continue to get in their way, cut the investigation short, and even begin to integrate them as criminals. Why? What do police know that they don't? Where is Em? What has Mike done to her? Has he found out her secret? Will Luke and Kida arrive just in time or too late?
