Col. William Tavington is the famed Dragoon officer that earned the name 'The Butcher' in North Carolina in the Revolutionary War. He died in The Battle of Cowpens.... Or did he? Elizabeth Bradford is a young scientist that lives in present day Oklahoma. Her life, as well as what she believes is impossible, is changed forever when the colonel falls into her lap. I've quite recently discovered one of Jason Isaac's best roles, and while reading Patriot fanfiction, I've thought up a not-so-creative plot bunny. What if, instead of the female OC being brought back into Tavington's time, Tavington is brought forward in time to the present day? I know It's been done before, but not nearly enough for me. Also, this is my first fanfic, so I'm open to (constructive!) Criticism and suggestions about what kind of events to put in the story.

Spring Break has just started for Hope during her senior year of High School and everything seems to be going perfect so far - that is until a car accident sends her into a very complicated situation where she wakes up in the 1770s. Hope doesn't know how or why but she's stuck. After Benjamin Martin takes her in under his wing as his own child and her mixed racial background adding a new twist to how everyone sees her, she thinks this might be better than 2012. That is until Charleston, South Carolina falls to the British and she's taken as a prisoner. What makes her world turn upside down even more is rebelling against a man who causes her very emotions to be put right onto the battlefield - that man being Colonel William Tavington. With the mixed emotions and signals Tavington shows, she can never know what will happen. They haven't been together long, but there's a spark at the ball neither one of them can deny. Can Hope escape back to Benjamin who has been trying to find her, will James Wilkins try to protect her, or will Colonel Tavington be the man to see her last breath?

Hope finally has escaped Colonel Tavington and has now been reunited with Gabriel and Benjamin. She's traveling through South Carolina and beyond as the war rages on, fighting with Benjamin's men in a war that has grown bloodier, dirtier, and larger than before. As Hope settles in with the men, however, she can't dodge the discrimination against her for not only being a female, but of mixed races. But she soon proves she's better than most when it comes to combat, having traded in her dresses for riding boots and trousers. Colonel Tavington has lost Hope, the first woman to have actually made him question his actions. But as the war progresses, Tavington lives up to his name 'The Butcher' as he soon becomes a master of torture to get answers of his Ghost's whereabouts, not knowing they were one in the same when it came to where Hope was. But when Hope falls back into William's arms once again, their everlasting emotions cause them to question their participation in battle. Can Hope prove worthy alongside Benjamin and fight for the country she loves with the South Carolina Militia under Benjamin's command, or will Hope and William's one mistake cost Benjamin's the war, jeopardizing their love, and cost her her life? It's all out war in Colonial America, and there is no such thing as a secret as death comes to those they love and the losses become more than unbearable. *** Make Sure To Read Part 1! ***

Warning PG-13 some mild language and adult situation. In the year 1812, the British army started a war with America, and they were determined to concur the country and take the land as their own. a lonely American woman, who didn't have family or anyone to speak of, lived on her own off of the land, and worked for anyone to be paid or in return get food. she started working for Lord Cornwallis as his errand runner, it was a stable job but dangerous and potentially put her life at risk. if she was to ever displease him in any kind of way, she could get into serious trouble. that being said, she wasn't familiar to many of the soldiers, all but James Wilkins, a man she knew for six years had joined the British army and became a Green Dragoon Captain. she doesn't pretend to know why. James is a bit of a coward, but she still cares about him. she doesn't care to worry much about the war anyway. when she ends up meeting the Colonel of the Green Dragoon's, Colonel Tavington, they don't get along well. she's a kind person but even so she won't hesitate to become vicious or devious if someone bites at her. they continue not to get along, only because he's the one with the anger issues, and hates the fact that she stands up to him. but after an encounter that nearly killed her, he starts to shift his feelings about her.
