(Un)fortunately, he doesn't die. Instead, he wakes up to a dull pain in his chest, along with a collection of broken bones that magically heal themselves after a bit. (There's a lot more tags that I could add to this but I want to keep them a surprise. Just know there's a lot of violence and swearing in this book that is graphically depicted but not a ton of smut.
