Rayne smirked, exhaling smoke. "Not like this, huh? What's that mean, mama?" I rolled my eyes, grabbing a pillow to throw at her. "Stop calling me that." "You don't want me to?" she asked, leaning forward, grin sharp. I froze, lips parting. "...I didn't say that." Her laugh filled the room, low and warm.

KK Arnold doesn't forgive easily-especially not when it comes to Harper Blake, the star guard from a rival team who nearly ended her season with a reckless foul. The grudge is real. The tension is worse. So when Harper transfers to UConn after a scandal at her old program, KK is livid. And when Coach assigns them to room together? It feels like a sick joke. They clash from day one-sarcastic remarks, silent glares, and cold shoulders. But under the surface, both girls are hiding pain that runs deeper than basketball. Harper's past isn't what it seems, and KK's pressure to be perfect is breaking her from the inside out. As walls start to crack and truths come out in the quiet, late-night hours of their shared room, their rivalry gives way to something unexpected: understanding. Then trust. Then something neither of them know how to name. But in a world where eyes are always watching and mistakes are never forgotten, love isn't the only thing on the line. And sometimes, the hardest shot to take... is the one that matters most.

"Is that so? Well, you still lost today so now you owe me a favor." "What do you want?" Now I'm really starting to realize what I might have gotten myself into. There's no telling what she's going to make me do. She walks up to me leaving only a few inches between us. My heart starts pounding as I'm wondering what she's going to do. I can feel my cheeks warm. I can't actually be blushing right now. She looks down and all I can focus on is how blue her eyes are. "You think I'm going to use it so soon?" She smirks as she leans in closer to me and winks. Suddenly, she takes the ball out of my hands and starts shooting again. "I'm saving it for when I need it, so don't forget." When UConn finds itself short players, El reluctantly joins the team to help her sister.

NOTE TO READERS: This story has been published IRL! Only the first chapter is available now on Wattpad. More info in my bio :) The year is 1988, and Finn, Ronan, Becca and Jasper are spending the summer at a reformatory camp located deep in the Alaskan wilderness. The camp, named Lightlake, is the last chance the teens have to get their lives back on track, but changing for the better isn't easy - and especially not at a place like Lightlake, where secrets outnumber the campers and myths have a way of coming to life.
