Athena believes her world is perfect. Direct democracy means that everyone votes, on everything: from how their healthcare is funded to the colour of the clothes they wear. When an explosive encounter with the mysterious Dyo throws Athena's beliefs into turmoil, Athena is soon drawn into a society on the outskirts, where she discovers a darker side to the world she lives in. But there is danger in the truth and this new knowledge comes at a heavy price. Can Athena turn her back on everything she has ever believed in? And what will happen to her if she does? This story is a draft version of Democary is Dead, which I am currently posting on Wattpad weekly. If you would like to read the updated version, please find DiD on my profile!

Everyone at school knows Andrew Jennings. Missing an arm. Openly gay. But when he meets star athlete Ryan Sullivan in therapy, can friendship lead to more? ***** When Andrew 'Jacky' Jennings ends up in therapy after an English assignment gone wrong, he doesn't expect to find his high school's star athlete, Ryan Sullivan, sitting in the same waiting room. After all, he and Ryan couldn't be more different: football captain, future valedictorian, and all-around nice guy, Ryan is the school's golden boy, while Andrew is known for his permanent snarl, being openly gay, and losing his left arm (along with his father and sister) in a car accident. But when Andrew learns they actually have a lot in common, he's surprised to see past the enigma that is Ryan Sullivan and his seemingly perfect life. The darkest hour is incorrectly referenced as being an hour, or sixty minutes long, when in fact the majority of people would agree the darkest hour often references a great chunk of time. My darkest hour began with the first kill in a chain of serial murders. This isn't just any murder story, there is no "final girl" emerging from the fire and blood the killer left in his wake. the past, no matter how hard we try running always comes back to teach us its lessons. I've tried for many years forgetting the blood soaked pavement under the carved bodies of the people I loved. I think about the friends I lost. And how the killer is still out there. As the end approaches I fear that I'll never get the time to tell my story. With death itself breathing down my neck Ill start from the beginning...At the first incident. **** WARNING**** This book contains chapters that younger readers and people who struggle with mental health may find disturbing or triggering. This includes things like written talks about depression and suicide. Her world runs on voting: from the colour of clothing, to the price of food, everything is determined by the people. Nor does she expect enigmatic Dyo to get under her skin, causing her to wonder if her society is less perfect than it seems. But Dyo is keeping secrets too, and Athena struggles to work out who to trust and what she should do next. Her society may be broken, but it isn't unfixable - yet.
