This is the first short story I have ever written. I decided to not edit over it and keep it online so people can see my progress and where I came from. I also kept the old Cover. It's now more or less a way for me to see how much I have improved.

It had been a while since Adam managed to go for a walk at nighttime. The cold dry wind blew against his mostly covered face as he walked around the evenly cold forest path. He was just a couple of kilometres away from the small village which he called his destination and home. This had to be the worst day ever: First the snowstorm, then the car accident, and finally his phone battery dying on him while he walked through the forest close to his village. The paved main road would have been safer sure, but the dirt path he was currently using was the faster option on foot...

The organisation picked up a quite odd case this time around: Multiple dead bodies had appeared around the city over the course of a few months. All of them have been turned to stone, their skin dried out and their throat filled with sand. So far, no one had been able to get any hints or information about who or what did it. As the numbers of victims increased, the organisation decided to entrust the case to a more experienced hunter: Pat Kenson This is the story of the 50-year-old, smoking addicted hunter Pat and his insecure apprentice Sam trying to solve the mystery of the stone killer and stumbling across the biggest case of their lives. A case that forces them to grow together as well as confronts them with their pasts.

It first sounds like a dream come true as Hendrick and his friends get transported into the world of 'Sinner's Game'. But things soon get more serious as their journey takes turns into a much darker direction. It doesn't take long until they realize there is more hidden underneath the surface as one might first assume, and a dark mystery starts revealing itself. --- What to expect: See, I know what you are probably thinking right now... 'The Cover caught my attention, but I'm not sure if I want to give it a go or not. I don't even know that Niffox guy, so why put in the time?' Well, I'm glad you asked, dear stranger. 'Sinner's Game' is a drastically different and dark spin to the in my opinion overused and mostly stale Isekai genre. (Which also means that if you are searching for a story with things like grinding or farming XP, this is most likely not the Novel for you.) It is a comprehensive, character driven and lore focused story with elements in the Horror/Mystery as well as Fantasy/Sci-Fi direction (Dark Mystery is the main focus). The pacing is fast, and the story has a set ending point. (No breaks in releases until the whole Novel is out. 2 Chapters a week all the way through.) The plot builds upon itself while slowly fitting in more and more pieces of the mystery. Double checking for details will definitely pay off as the story progresses. Oh yea... and you can also expect some nerdy jokes and references as well, but getting them is not necessary to understand the story.
