(This is the book 2 of POE chronicles - please check out book 1 Evolution first ) Evolution had created us. Allowed us to be different, given us a chance to survive outside the walls of Citybases. But evolution had also made them. They might not be as intelligent as we are, but nature is on their side this time around. This is a game of survival; a game to see who adapt faster and grow stronger. You have no idea who your enemies are or what to believe. All you can do is try your best to stay alive. Nature only favours those with the right adaptation, ruthlessly eliminating the rest. Nature will make you. It will also break you. Only the fittest survive. (This is book 3 of the P.O.E. Chronicles, Read book 1 Evolution and book 2 Selection if you haven't already) I never wanted a war. All I wanted to do was to get things back to the way they were and to keep those I love safe. But it turns out that everything was just an illusion, that the reality I lived in was all but a lie. That world was no place to live, and in order to make a better future, a future that so many have sacrificed so much to try and archive before me, I had to fight. And to do that I needed to find out the truth, no matter what horrors lie beneath it. The web of lies, of secrecy, of betrayal, is spun so far, so fine, so wide that I had been seeing only a corner of it. I didn't know if I have the strength to go on, but I know that if I don't step up, the world as we have known it will end. If you asked her four years ago what she imagined herself doing in the future, Abigail Beckett could safely tell you that it doesn't involve political meetings, living in an ancient castle and seeking advice from a three hundred years old Original. Having discovered her roots, she had inherited the responsibility to make sure the world doesn't end by the terrorist group Apocalypse and make peace among POE and Legres. With the fate of many of her friends still uncertain, she must race against time to uncover the Apocalypse's plan, pacify the government, and tried not to get killed by her grandmother. Fin is a more or less normal teenage boy living in the kingdom known as Lenseia. Well, normal as in there really isn't anything special about him. He's relatively weak, not exactly ugly but definitely not handsome, and definitely not good at remembering the swordplay sequences he's supposed to have memorized to become a knight. But, well, as things do in this sort of story, that all changes when he finds the baby dragon...

Firstly, it was just the prisoners that were used. Then it became orphans, and even some of the elderly. Now it is everyone in a society where people are struggling to find work. Money is offered to anyone willing to volunteer themselves or their children to take part in scientific trials run by the organisation called Calox. Except no one ever gets the money. No one is ever seen again once they've volunteered for the trials. (This is the first book in the 'Children of Calox' series. 'Flames' is the sequel, and therefore the second book in the series. I plan to write between three and five books in total.)
