What happens to Eiji once he returns to Japan? The story takes place after episode 24 so will contain spoilers. I have read Garden of Light so this is like an alternative ending. There's a lot of angst.

Aslan Callenreese, mostly known as Ash Lynx, had a tough past. After both his parents died due to an unknown cause, Ash had been taking as a young boy to a new life. Abusive parents, having a gang at school while only trusting a singular person. His life was a living nightmare, needing to beat people up left and right, unwillingly, while also dealing with his homelife, until a new kid comes in town and his life got thrown upside down.

Eiji had gone back to Japan after Ash got stabbed. He thought he was dead. But one day the Asian boy got a surprise when he saw the American boy stood by his doorstep

An alternative ending where Eiji saves Ash at the last minute before bleeding out. Since he's powerless in a wheelchair he has help, of course.

Eiji is torn apart by the news of Ash's death. He locks himself away and begins to slowly fade away. When he finds out Ash is still alive he couldn't be happier. But now, after so long, after almost letting it all go every morning and night, how was he supposed to pick himself back up and just forget? He's been just as gone as Ash was. Now Ash is there, helping pull him together again, with lots and lots of love. Lots of sad Eiji Only a little S.H and S.A, sorry for no trigger warnings 😞
