The Italian, Russian, and Spanish mafias all agreed to merge into one mafia after they became family. The mafia dons worked together to run the strongest mafia in the world that everyone bowed to. They had no troubles and each don had many children although only the Italian don had daughters and they all cherished them. The night of the annual mafia ball the fathers and their older boys went to attend leaving their wives and younger children in a secure location. What they didn't know was an unknown group was about to attack and take their youngest children away from them. The three youngest Italian mafia children, the youngest Russian son, and the youngest Spanish mafia son along with their family's closest friend's son were gone. They were soon thrown into an orphanage that sold them to the best assassination organization in the world, The Unseen Nightmares, who erased their identities. The six were split up into two groups and rarely saw each other. They all knew they were related but only Adelina, Santiago, and Luka had memories of the rest of their family. They were unable to tell the younger ones because they were split up for training so often and talking about their past lives was forbidden. When Emmalyn and her group began showing talent in their training they were sent to be trained by the three best assassins in the world and became The Aces a trio of assassins that everyone knew to fear. While they were gone Adelina and her group continued training and became The Roses another feared trio of assassins. Both The Aces and The Roses followed The Unseen Nightmares rules and completed every mission given to them. Until the night of another annual mafia ball where they confront their family after years of separation.

I used to believe monsters lived under the bed. Now I know better. They wear human skin. The chains bite into my wrists again as I try to squirm, but I don't cry anymore. Crying makes it worse. Crying makes me weak. That's what he says, anyway. "Big girls don't cry," he sneers, dragging the blade slowly across my stomach. "You're not a baby anymore, are you?" I try to be silent. I try to be still. But the pain makes my body twitch. The blood trickles like warm tears down my ribs. I squeeze my eyes shut and pray for the darkness to swallow me whole. It doesn't. I wish I could remember my mother's voice. My father's face. My brothers- Were they even real? Or just dreams I invented to survive? Time doesn't exist here. Only pain. And him. He says my name like it's a curse: Alessia. He tells me pain is my teacher. That fear will become my friend. That one day, I'll thank him for turning me into something more than a girl. He's wrong. I'm not more than a girl. I'm something else entirely. Because one day, I stop praying for the pain to end. I start learning from it. One day, I take the knife from his hand. One day, he bleeds. That's the day I stop being Alessia, the little girl. And I become something far worse.

No one knows her name. No one dares ask. They only speak of the eyes-two different colors, rare and chilling. A mark of death. Of vengeance. A whisper in the underworld: "She doesn't miss. She doesn't hesitate. She doesn't feel." She walks alone through Moscow's back alleys, blood on her boots, the faintest scent of smoke trailing her long black coat. She'd slit a man's throat two minutes ago. Didn't blink. Didn't speak. Just turned and vanished. She's nineteen. But the world thinks she's a myth. And maybe she is. Maybe something broke inside her when she was five years old. When the Russians took her. When they burned her home into memory and carved out the little girl who used to sing lullabies on her grandfather's lap. Now? Now she dreams in flashes. A golden sun. A woman's perfume. Laughter in Italian. Five shadows taller than her, arms wide open. Names, always at the edge of her tongue-but never there. She remembers their faces. And she remembers the man who stole her life. Viktor Ovalov. The Russian leader. The man who turned her into a weapon. He doesn't know she's coming. But she'll show him. She'll make him bleed for every scar he left on her skin. For every scream he buried in her throat. She presses a gloved hand to the glass window of an abandoned apartment. Her reflection stares back-impossibly beautiful, heartbreakingly cold. Eyes covered with dull brown lenses. She's ashamed of what makes her different. Even now, she hides the heterochromia behind colored contacts. Just one more mask to wear. But behind those eyes, behind the silence-she remembers. This isn't a story of sunshine and fairytales. Not a story where she just 'heals' and gets her sunshine personality back. No this is a story where she learns to live again and not just exist or survive. This isn't about healing, it's about living again, revenge and living through your pain.
