Despite the sexist partners, the useless investigators, and the troublesome clients, "Attorney at Law" was the one title Cassandra Foreman vied her whole life to get. Maybe that's why she takes on a hopeless case: a seventeen year old girl charged with the murder of her unfaithful boyfriend. Cassandra knows she's biting off more than she can chew, but that seems to be the story of her life. So even when she develops irrevocably strong feelings for her client, which is wrong in far too many ways, she resolves that quitting would be the one thing worse than never having gone to law school at all.

Sixteen-year-old Opal might be everything you hate in a person. She's snobby, conceited, and has more popularity than she knows what to do with in her sunny and densely populated Florida city. In contrast, Jack, nicknamed "Alaska" by Opal in regards to the quiet Alaskan town where he resides, is sweet, caring, and compassionate. The two are complete opposites in almost every way. When Opal is whisked away to some unheard of town in Alaska to spend spring break with her older brother and brand new and annoying stepsister, she is not happy. After all, spring break is a time to tan and lay by the pool, not freeze in the snow as you only get paler. But things get even more complicated when an accident leaves Opal and Jack lost in the middle of nowhere with nothing more than a survival backpack and each other. Though the two were brought together by chance and they disagree on practically everything, they now must rely on each other if they want to get back in one piece. With constant battles being thrown their way that seem nearly impossible to overcome, confessions that are bound to be unleashed, and the blossoming promise of second chances, there is no telling what lies ahead for these two. They only have one mission: find their way back to civilization in time before it's too late.

"Anna dislikes being stuck three-quarters of the way down a chimney. She really does. Not to mention, she's still going round North America, and there's, like, three continents still to get through in about as many hours."

Hudson Ellis is good at his job. Somehow, he manages not to annoy people when he knocks at their doors and asks them to contribute to the charity he works for - instead, he gets them to sign up for sponsoring programmes and fish whatever spare change they have out of their pockets. Even the infamously tough residents of New York City are falling victim to Hudson's easy-going ways and wide smile; that is, until one woman renders him speechless with sarcastic refusals and slams her door in his face. Perhaps Hudson would be able to forget her - if it wasn't for the fact that she lives on the same floor of the next apartment over, and they both have floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for a rather generous view into each other's flats.
