Taking the easy way out and stealing things was always Peridot's ideal lifestyle. No matter how hard the cops try, they cannot seem to catch the girl and her accomplices. Peridot has always preffered to be alone. she doesn't want to talk to people. She can't. she's almost 16... And mute. She has spent the majority of her life in a hospital because she was abandoned by her parents. But when she hears she's going to have her first roomate, who is apparently deaf, she is less then thrilled at the idea.

Peridot Greene is the high school nerd. Bullied, teased, name-called... She's capable of handling situations by herself. Lapis is one of the cheer-leading co-captains. Popular, fame, parties... She is feared by the unnoticed in the school. It's nearly the end of the year, one month away from graduation for the two. They bump into each other and it goes on from there. As their friendship grows into a stronger bond, Peridot's secret keeps her from being open towards Lapis. Will Peridot and Lapis get together before the school year ends and their paths separate?
