To be a Shelby was one thing, but to be the one who carried the burden was another.
In her youth, Mary Shelby had faced countless whispers around whether or not she was a legitimate Shelby daughter - which, she was indeed the daughter of Arthur Shelby Sr and his wife, but regardless, she'd hear them whisper, "I heard someone say he ain't really her dad." or, "she looks nothing like those brothers of hers." none of them took notice. Well, Mary did slightly, she'd be a fool not to. But her brothers, they didn't care. They shared the same mother, that was a fact, and that was all they needed to know. To be truthful, they sometimes hoped the rumours were true because at least then she wouldn't face the burden of being Arthur Shelby's daughter.
