Azaziah Azar is not like the pirates he shares a ship with. He never would have led them to the fabled Golden Siren if he'd known it really existed. He wishes he hadn't. Az and the siren are both trapped on board The Merry, captained by the unstable Rowan Slade and forced to work for him. At first, they want nothing to do with each other. To Az, the siren is an unfeeling, dangerous predator. To the siren, Az is just another pirate out to make a pretty penny off his shining golden scales. But as Slade's plans for the siren escalate, Az realises that maybe sirens and humans aren't so different after all.
