I hadn't meant for it to happen at all, but she was too close, saying my name like she got me, and it snapped something in my chest. One second I was tense, telling myself she didn't belong with Robbie, and the next my hand was on her wrist, pulling her back.
"You don't get to just-" I started, but she looked at me like a challenge, and I lost it.
I kissed her, hard, messy, all frustration and no control. She made this sharp, surprised sound but didn't pull away, fingers gripping my shirt, dragging me closer like she needed it too. It wasn't soft; it was clumsy, breathless, teeth knocking, everything I'd been holding back spilling out at once. And I hated how fast it stopped feeling like anger and started feeling like something else entirely.
